New Packaging Idea!

We worked on these new gowns at our last work day, and I'm excited to provide this entire set of items to our angel parents! I got the idea from other "bereavement clothing specialists" to package things together, and it works well. This way nurses won't have to search for the right size bracelet, or try to put mismatched clothing items together (our volunteers don't always live in the same area or have the same material to work with, but we've worked out the kinks now). The package contains a coordinating gown, 2 hats, and diapers (1 for the baby and 1 for a memento), mom/baby bracelets, a mini bear for pictures, and we'll put in the right size of hand/foot print cards as well. Here's to serving our angel families better!

Right now our hospitals have bereavement items in different places.  There are memory boxes with things like a stuffed animal and resource lists in them, a spot for clothing items, then another box for mom/baby bracelets and hand/footprint cards.  I tried to make it so the different things could be found, but after seeing pictures of others ways of organizing, I thought it would be good to put more things together.  Now they can get one bag for the right age of the baby, with the matching color and size of gown/hats/diapers.  I really am excited for the change!  The new gowns are also neat, because they have two layers and aren't too bulky, which was the problem with the little gowns before.  They are sleeveless so the fragile little hands don't have to be squeezed through sleeves, and they are shorter for boys so it's a onsie idea, instead of a gown for boys.  Now to go to the hospital and change everything around...

On August 20, we had an angel baby work day to organize.  Here's the fb post:
Wow, there was a whole lot of craziness today! I went to the hospital yesterday and picked up all of the clothing items they had, and we organized them (along with the stuff I had at my house) according to age/gender. There's still lots to, with some missing gowns, diapers or hats, but they are all ready to be worked on for our next sewing day! Thanks for the help ladies, and thanks for dealing with the insanity so well

LikeYou can't see it well, but there was a big pile of items for all ages, both genders, and all needing attention!

  1. Great job, they look perfect. Its always easier if everything is kept together, its a one stop shop for the midwives especially when they are in a hurry and the family can keep the matching sets together in the zip lock bags until they get home. Im sure the families will LOVE your sets and the midwives will appreciate the complete set all in one bag
